Catching Up

Hi followers, its been a while but here it is. Joseph and i have spent 2 days in Vietnam and 5 in Cambodia and we are now about to head back into Vietnam to go north so i can catch my flight to Australia in 8 days. A lot of fun has been had and my time in Asia is running out however i am really looking forward to a comfortable bed and a warm shower. This post will be a catch up of random photos over the past few days before i can get back to regular internet and traveling in Vietnam.

On the first night Joe had some trouble staying awake, the waitresses thought he was so cute.

Back in Cambodia to see our friend Vihn, this guy sells 20 shot fireworks for $1 on the beach all night, Joe bought him a coke and they naturally became best friends.

So day 2 in Cambodia and we decided to Booze Cruise, 110 foreigners on a boat.....

The Mekong whiskey buckets go down a treat at $1.50 a litre

Our Australian friends we met on the bus down

Then it was time to jump off the boat (this is safe)

Joe got pretty sloppy

Night 3 and somehow we were hanging out with Vihn again, we think he stole Joes camera and this older guy sold it back to him for $20, seems legit.

We made friends with some Canadians, then the beach kids wanted to arm wrestle, if they won with two hands you had to buy a bracelet.

More booze cruisin

That night a bar called the 'dolphin shack' decided to dig a large pit into the sand, fill it with milo and get British girls to wrestle each other for drinks. Sihanoukville really is a party town

Some of the Ho Chi Minh skyline

Joe taking pictures of me skyping Jackie

Above is some photos of the Cu Chi tunnels used in the Vietnam war, you hop down one and walk up another over 30 meters away

We went on a city tour to some markets and tasted the worlds strongest coffee, or so they say with some guys from Iceland

Then we visited a temple the Chinese built many years ago to honor those who lived on the sea, there was this cage outside containing 100+ pigeons?

If you pay enough money the temple puts your name on one of the hanging incense twirls and it burns there for over a week.

Joe next to some cyclos, you sit and the front and a man cycles you around from the rear.

One of the markets

They are selling so much stuff they stand on piles of it.

Owl super naughty

The traffic in Vietnam is ridiculous, non stop motorbikes everywhere. I doubt there is any less than 200 in your sight at any one time.

This is about the most Vietnamese meal one can have, this is Pho a rice noodle soup broth. Its really good!

From the time he landed Joe was itching to get on a bike

In the parks they have makeshift gym equipment, we treated it like a kids playground.

Wooo! look at those legs pump.

Leyla one of our British friends we met in Sihanoukville (she did not mud wrestle)

Some Australians and Canadians

And even a few Kiwis

Joe wasnt feeling to well at the farewell dinner

So then we went back to Phnom Penh

And visited the Genocide Museum where Pol Pot documented the execution of prisoners while they were kept in cells.

Some of the prisoner documentation, these faces really say a lot.

Some Westerners were captured and killed also, this man is from Mandurah, Western Australia where i used to live.

ome victims skulls were on display with bullet holes and all

After we went to the central market which was really cool, great diversification of products you dont see in many other markets.

And as i dont want to leave you with a low, here is Joe tonight reminiscing about childhood in Hong Kong where he used to drink coconuts every day.

Right now we are waiting around to catch a midnight bus back into Vietnam, then we will be off north the night after, traveling to Hoi An before departing Hanoi on the 5th. A lot of travel ahead but lots of fun too, blogging again soon.
